Let us tell you a little about this program...
Our awesome instructor, Señora Christina, began teaching over 450 elementary kids Spanish at the onset of the 2016-17 school year, and we can assure you that they have had a blast! It has been our goal to keep class fun, conversational, full of games, play, songs and projects. They have learned about other cultures and holidays as well as learning basic vocabulary. Christina spends the entire class translating every sentence into Spanish, so they are continually exposed to basic conversation. The foundation is being set for many years of Spanish, and we believe that if our kids have the benefit of learning Spanish starting in kindergarten, they will be well on their way to a bilingual future. We hope you will read our blog (classroom updates) as well as some of our other posts that provide information on brain development and why we are so passionate about this program.
Our program is privately funded. Though we are hopeful that Spanish class becomes something the district sees value in adding to every school, it will take years to implement this kind of change. Until then we want to see the program grow, school by school. We need passionate community members, parents and teachers, to help us develop this program and serve as grant writers, fundraisers, educators and donors/sponsors.
If you are interested in helping BeLingual Kids grow, email us. We would love to talk more about how you can get involved!
